Re: Red & Blue Albums

Yeah, imagine your first exposure to the Beatles comes from these 2023 Red and Blue comps, and you grow to love the band as those of us here do, and then 5 years down the road someone turns you on to the original mono and stereo mixes, that will be the same kind of thrill we've all experienced over...

Re: Band On The Run (Underdubbed Mix)

Thanks for the post. The differences seem minor until 2:06, after which everything sounds different.

Re: What audio player do you use on your PC?

MediaMonkey has a learning curve, but what I like best about it is the way you can alter tags based upon the filenames, and alter the file (directory) structure based upon the tags. Once you get it all down-pat, it makes managing a library very simple.

Re: Can I fix a blu-ray rip that's too red?

"Avidemux" is my favorite sofrware for working with video, it has a lot of tools for video correction/adjustments. It will convert virtually any format to any other, both in regard to video and audio (as long as the two are compatible with each other).

Re: Best audio converter? A must have question.

It really comes down to the codecs being used. Dithering does make a difference, especially at 16/44.1. I tend to use MediaMonkey for convenience as it's my primary player, but it doesn't have any options for dithering. I use Audacity when I want (what I consider to be) the best results.

Re: Hey, a new sub-board!

Just a question for those who have played around with various software (both online and standalone). Is there one that stands out above the others, and are there any that go beyond four tracks (vocal/bass/percussion/other). I've used the "Vocal dot AI" website and iZotope RX 10. They do a ...

Re: Red & Blue Albums

PJ actually goes on record saying that MAL produces no artefacts whatsoever. Going by his demo, I think that is a valid statement. The only artefacty audio he played was the vocal separations and he prefaced that with the caveat that it is still experimental. I don't hear any artefacts from demixin...

Re: Red & Blue Albums

I haven't looked through all 44 pages in this thread but I will say this about the 2023 release.... The original release was the version I grew up on and still love to this day. As I got older and more into the Beatles and learned about the various versions and mixes of their songs over the years, ...

Re: Red & Blue Albums

That's actually why I was looking at them at that level of detail, to see if perhaps some form of processing had been applied such as de-clipping since the existing master sounds as if it's a bit overdriven. There are instances where the EP version looks a bit more "rounded" at the peaks ...

Re: Red & Blue Albums

The EP version of SLY is eq'd isn't it? It sure sounds different from past masters. For what it's worth I inspected the 1992 EP collection once and found a lot of No Noise being used. The most obvious and destructive example was the mono Blue Jay Way. But the set overall does have a nice use of eq....
