Re: Yesterday No String Section
No it is the side channels of the stereo so not center but what is at the sides. It is confusing but works Easiest way to get a 'no strings' version is to just use the right channel of the 1987 mix (though the first verse sounds better folded). I haven't listened to yours but using only the sides s...

Re: John Lennon's Jukebox
Curious: Is this a legit release? I see it on Ebay for around $50. Can someone post it here if it is not against the rules? It's a legit release. I'll see if I still have it, but I think I got rid of it. It's only a compilation of tracks that had an influence on Lennon. Might have been ok if they h...

[https://www.shutterstock.com/editorial/image-editorial/pete-best-r-former-drummer-beatles-on-9016778a][/img] Pete Best on set with Ray Ashcroft (apparently, though it doesn't really look like him) who played Ringo in the film. McKenna and Ashcroft were the two who best portrayed their characters in...

Re: Harry And His Box Set (V1, 2, 7, 10, 12, 15, 14 update.)
One more question - I remember hearing something about the 'Bush House Tape', which was apparently a compilation of PGTB material. Does that actually exist, and what is it exactly? It was called "The Bush Tape". According to Tommy Vance who first played the tape on the Friday Rock Show in...

Re: Harry And His Box Set (V1, 2, 7, 10, 12, 15, 14 update.)
I think I can figure out a lot of it myself, but thought it might be an idea to specify what kind of (best) source each track comes from, e.g. BBC tape (are there any/), Copy of BBC tape, Transcription disc, Off air (via mic or direct feed), etc. and any other details such as who the source came fr...

Re: Harry And His Box Set (V1, 2, 7, 10, 12, 15, 14 update.)
I loved the way you presented Lewisohn’s A COMPLETE CATALOGUE OF THE BEATLES' BBC RADIO PERFORMANCES last time Isn't that what's included in volume 18 of this set? Thanks, that's the kind of thing I was looking for. I like reading about this stuff almost as much as listening to it. I think I can fi...

Re: Harry And His Box Set (V1, 2, 7, 10, 12, 15, 14 update.)
The Xmas 1965 Saturday Club 'eavesdrop tape' is hilarious. One of my favourite things that I've downloaded so far. Love the bit where they're arguing about rehearsals (when Ringo explains his plans, Paul's 'Hmm-mmm' reminds me of Oliver Hardy reacting to some Stan Laurel nonsense :D ) I think it's ...

Re: Harry And His Box Set (V1, 2, 7, 10, 12, 15, 14 update.)
Thank you for clarifying. So now it appears there are at least 3 different edits of that chat: (TG, TOTP, and Live at the BBC) none of them complete on their own. Very interesting. Top Of the Pops was made by the BBC Transcription Service. They would study the forthcoming domestic programme schedul...

Re: Rubber Soul (2024) (EP) (Remix)
The REDD desk just had bass and treble with an optional 5k boost across the board for 'pop' sessions . The early albums seem to have the 5k boost enabled. They also used a passive plugin EQ module called a "brilliance box" that offered boost/cut adjustments at 2.7k, 3.5k and 10k. I've fou...

Re: Harry And His Box Set
I'm too scared to listen! One of The Beatles great talents was their ability to improve other people's songs. They turned a lot of B grade B sides into terrific tracks. Likewise I think they could take other people's basic ideas for songs and come up with much better songs derived from those ...
